Future of Transport Future Salon
Tonight in Palo Alto, I'll be presenting at the Future of Transport Future Salon, along with Brad Templeton. The Bay Area Future Salon is run by Mark Finnern, and I've been a regular audience member for years. It's a wonderful event and I am proud to be asked to speak on my passion, X Prize Cars. I'll be explaining the Automotive X Prize, introducing a few of the teams to the audience, and then giving some of my views on the future of transportation. You can download my 3MB Slide Show (PDF), I think the most interesting material for people who have been following the AXP here will be the last few slides where I have some points about the "Larger Picture". I enjoyed your talk yesterday.
Here a link to 1 liter / 100 km (equivalent to 235 miles per US gallon or 282 mpg Imperial) car built by Volkswagen

Piech (CEO of VW at this time) drove from Wolfsburg to Hamburg (230 km ~ 140 miles, using German Autobahn, average speed 75 km/hour ~ 47 mph) to attend the shareholder meeting in April 2002. He used 0.89 liters/100km (http://www.autointell.de/News-deutsch-2002/April-2002/April-2002-3/April-17-02-p1.htm in German sorry).
