Goodwin-Young: Linc-Volt
Jonathan Goodwin and Niel Young have teamed up to bring you the most unlikely contender for the alternative class of the Automotive X Prize: a converted 1959 Lincoln Continental, with electric drive and a range-extending biodiesel generator. Even if they don't win, they sure will be racing in style! Check out the new page on the Linc-Volt, or read on the same info presented via HTML.

Background and Details
- The Linc Volt team is led by Neil Young (of rock and roll fame) and Johnathan Goodwin
- They are retrofitting Neil Young's 1959 Lincoln Continental into an electric vehicle (EV), plus a biodiesel genset
- Goodwin owns H-line Conversions, which specializes in turning gas-guzzling behemoths into hybrids
- Niel Young, in association with Shakey Pictures, is making a film of the conversion (+potentially their role in the AXP)
- They are using UQM Technologies motors and controllers
- They have test driven the EV conversion: "fast and quiet"
- They've gotten lots of great press for this effort so far, but technical details are actually rather sparse
- Their claim of 100 MPG may not include the electricity used, i.e. we're not sure what their "MPGe" actually is
