Tesla Motors Announces Model S & California Manufacturing Plans

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger visited Tesla's San Carlos Facility today and helped them to announce two things. First, Tesla's sedan previously known as the WhiteStar is now known as Model S, and will officially be all-electric, with a range of 225 miles and a cost of around $60k. Second, Tesla has chosen California as the location of the Model S manufacturing plant, thanks to some incentives from the Governor and the convenience of being near their own HQ. You can read all about it: Tesla Blog, Autoblog Green, Green Car Congress, Engadget, Treehugger... Unfortunately, still no word on whether the Model S will be participating in the Automotive X Prize. And still no rendering or photos of the Model S.
