Motive Industries has created a very sporty design for their Automotive X Prize entry. With 2+2 seating, the vehicle should qualify for the mainstream class if the rules are modified as people expect. Motive Industries plans to use both battery exchange and a range-extending ICE generator, hence their designation BEHEV: Battery Exchange Hybrid Electric Vehicle. Background and Details

Motive Industries is based in Calgary, Alberta Canada, and it is a four year old design, engineering, prototyping and production firm
Vehicle will have composite/aluminum/steel chassis
Aluminum framework for battery box, which makes batteries easily swappable
Will have a small range-extending generator, maybe an 800cc diesel or motorbike engine, or maybe a mini turbine
A large electric motor drives the front wheels, while the generator is rear mounted
They are committed to using ecologically sensitive materials and manufacturing methods; they call it Zero Impact Manufacturing (ZIM)
President Nathan Armstrong worked on the Aptera as "Body Engineer", responsible for the inside of the vehicle, as well as on many other concept/prototype vehicles
