Velozzi
Velozzi made waves in 2007 with their green sports car concept. They have an unusual structure - non-profit laboratory, and lots of experts on staff. They hope to license the technology they develop to automotive manufacturers - in fact they were working on the Velozzi before the Automotive X Prize began. Check out our page on the Velozzi, or read on for the same information in a less pretty format.

Background and Details
- Velozzi is a non-profit laboratory based in Beverly Hills, CA
- They are being very secretive about details like HP, range, battery size, etc - hence all the ? in the table
- Although they claim lightweight construction (aluminum and carbon fiber), their estimated weight puts them among the heaviest of the alternative class competitors
- Many say it looks like a Ferrari F430
- The onboard generator (a micro-turbine) is claimed to be able to use ethanol, methanol, bio-diesel, or even conventional gasoline or diesel.
- They have also announced a car called the “Velozzi X1”, which will enter the mainstream class (with 4 seats), similar to the Velozzi in terms of technology, but they have a target price of <$30k for it (the Velozzi will be more expensive than that, but they are not saying how much).
- They plan to license the technology to all - and they also hope to partner with a major auto manufacturer to have vehicles produced
