Fuel Vapor Technologies Ale

The Ale is a 3-wheel 2-seat (tandem) sports car. It gets 92 MPG and accelerates from 0-60 in <5 seconds. Interestingly, it's Canadian - one of only two Canadian team currently registered for the AXP. They have been working on the car for years, and even suffered a devastating fire, yet still they have a working prototype and got lots of attention at the 2006 SEMA show. Check out the Fuel Vapor Ale page, or read on for the same information in a less pretty format.
Fuel Vapor Technologies Ale (2006 concept)
Short Description: 2-seat, 3-wheel gasoline sports car
Availability & Cost: no date yet, ~$80k
Background and Details
  • Their “fuel vapor technology” enables them to run the engine leaner (as low as 20:1), which improves efficiency
  • It also allows them to avoid enrichment at cold start, and there is no need for accelerant enrichment either
  • However, fuel vapor is only good for low end of power range - they use regular system for high performance
  • They claim that 92 MPG is without the Fuel Vapor - with gets over 100 MPG, and they are still working on it
  • Awesome handling - can pull 1.7gs around corners
  • Tandem seating is being considered by the AXP as a possible sub-class of the Alternative Class
  • The StreetFire video claims they are accepting orders, but I don’t see anything like that on their website?
